I am 6 1/2 months pregnant with my first child. I'm 22 years old. When my doctor gives me the "go ahead" for diet and exercise after my baby is born I want to lose all my baby weight. If I cut out empty carbs such as sugar, white flour, soda, candy, etc. and ate a diet mainly consisting of lean meats such as chicken and fish, non-startchy veggies such as broccolli and whole wheat products, do you think I could lose weight??? Would I need to watch fat intake as well, as in use low fat salad dressings, watching dairy intake and things like that???
*I plan on walking 30 mins. to an hour a day as well, and plenty of water. >

Everything you've said there sounds great. You're on the right track. You don't need to avoid dairy though - just switch your milk to skim milk, get non-fat sugar-free yogurt, low-fat cottage cheese, low-fat sour cream and even low-fat sugar-free ice creams are now available too.
As far as walking goes, my advice there would be to make your walking as brisk as possible and extend your walking to the full hour (or more when you feel up to it) since fat-burning only starts after 20 minutes of medium-intensity activity.
Best wishes and congrats on the baby! |
